Mind Mapping Books and Other Resources
As I've mentioned elsewhere in this web site, my experience with mind mapping began with Tony Buzan's classic The Mind Map Book: How to Use Radiant Thinking to Maximize Your Brain's Potential. Since then, I've read several mind mapping books and two really good mindmapping ebooks (all titles and links are listed below in the mind mapping books list).
I also have read dozens of mind mapping articles, blog entries, tips and tricks, and I've looked at many of the mind map galleries available online. There's a wealth of information available if you're interested in mind mapping.
Books About Mind Mapping
If you're new to mind mapping and want to start with a great book, Buzan's The Mind Map Book is the place to begin. Stop everything you're doing and order it today, or run to your local bookseller and see if she has it. Personally, I'm a little impatient and I like to get my hands on something RIGHT NOW. If you're like that too, check out the Memletics ebook (listed below) and Chuck Frey's Power Strategies ebook also listed below. Both are available for immediate download so you can be learning mind mapping in about three minutes from now.
There are other books about mind mapping - dozens of them in fact. I've listed a sampling because I'm comfortable recommending only the mind mapping books and ebooks I've actually read myself and found really valuable. If you know of a great book I should add to this list, let me know and I'll take a look.
MindMapping Books and Other Resources
- The Mind Map Book, Tony Buzan. This is, in my opinion, the best introduction to mind mapping by the person credited with its creation. Buy this book first!
- How to Mind Map, Tony Buzan. The "how to" companion to the "why to" Mind Map Book.
- Memletics has a great ebook (in PDF format) on concept mapping / mind mapping. This ebook is great - I can't recommend it enough. If you want to start learning mind / concept mapping right now, this is the place to start.
- Mind Maps for Kids (K-8), Tony Buzan. I bought this book for my daughter to help her understand mind mapping and to help me understand how mind maps work for young children.
- Mind Maps at Work, Tony Buzan. About 90% of my mind maps are business related (presentations, project management, time/self management, etc.). Buzan's Mind Maps at Work is a good resource for understanding how mind mapping helps in business.
- Power Tips & Strategies for Mind Mapping Software ebook by Chuck Frey. If you want to learn about mind mapping right now, this is the place to start. Available for immediate download, Power Tips & Strategies is loaded with basic and advanced strategies for getting the most out of your mind mapping software. In my opinion, you simply can't go wrong with Chuck's ebook.
- Amazon book search for mind mapping. Lots of good stuff here. (Start with Buzan first!)
